Norman, Is That You?

Pegasus Theater Company presents Norman, Is That You? a comedy by Ron Clark and Sam Brobrick, with John Rowan as Director and Diz Struffles as Co-Director. Norman runs for five weekends from May 11 through June 10 at the Rio Nido Lodge.

Norman, Is That You? is a landmark play, one of the first Broadway shows to deal with gay issues openly and with humor. It takes place in the 1970s, a period of conflict and change, when the Stonewall riots had sparked the modern gay rights movement and a surge of gay pride.

Norman and his lover Garson are awakened one morning in their apartment in New York City when Norman’s father Ben, a dry cleaner from the Midwest, arrives unexpectedly on their doorstep. Ben is distraught because his wife has run off with his brother, but instead of seeking solace from his son, Ben discovers that he must confront the fact that his son is gay.

Step back 40 years to an era that featured bright, bold clothing, bell bottoms, the Bee Gees, and mullets and shag haircuts. The talented ensemble of actors who will take you there are Steve Cannon, Audie Foote, Jana Molina, John Rowan and Michelle Jensen.

All Saturday and Sunday performances are $15 general admission. You’re invited to celebrate opening night, Friday, May 11, with complimentary champagne and hors d’oeuvres for the regular price of a general admission ticket. The following four Fridays are pay-what-you-can. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 p.m.
